Braces
Orthodontic treatment is used to correct a “bad bite.”
This condition, known as a malocclusion, involves teeth that
are crowded or crooked. |

Crowns
If you want a smile that's your crowning glory, you may need
a crown to cover a tooth and restore it to its normal shape
and size. A crown can make your tooth stronger and improve
its appearance. |

|
Cosmetic
Dentistry
A smile can be the most eye-catching feature of a face. With
dentistry's many advances, you no longer have to settle for
stained, chipped, or misshapen teeth. You now have choices
that can help you smile with confidence. |
|
Dentures
If you’ve lost all of your natural teeth, whether from
periodontal disease, tooth decay or injury, complete dentures
can replace your missing teeth and restore your smile. |
| |

|
Dental
Emergencies
Accidents do happen, and knowing what to do when one occurs
can mean the difference between saving and losing a tooth.
Most dentists reserve time in their daily schedules for emergency
patients. |
|
Dental
Fillings
Learn about the three most common dental fillings: amalgam
fillings, composite fillings and gold-coloured fillings. |
| |
|
|
Dental
Implants
Surgically placed below the gums over a series of appointments,
implants fuse to the jawbone and serve as a base for individual
replacement teeth, bridges or a denture. |
|
Laser
Dentistry
Blackburn Shoppes Dental Centre offers laser dentistry for
a variety of dental procedures: soft tissue surgery, hard
tissue surgery, cavity removal, tooth preparation and curettage. |
| |
|
|
Root
Canals
Once upon a time, if you had a tooth with a diseased nerve,
you'd probably lose that tooth. Today, with a special dental
procedure called a root canal therapy you may save that tooth. |
|
Tooth
Extraction
Your dentist will numb the area to lessen any discomfort.
After the extraction, your Ottawa Family Dentist will advise
you of what post extraction regimen to follow. |

Mouthguards/Sportguards
A properly fitted mouthguard can help prevent broken teeth
and injuries to the lips, tongue, face or jaw. Use a mouthguard
during any activity that could result in a blow to the face
or mouth. |
|
Veneers
There's no reason to put up with gaps in your teeth or with
teeth that are stained, badly shaped or crooked. Veneers are
placed on top of your teeth to correct nature's mistake or
the results of an injury and help you have a beautiful smile. |

Teeth
Whitening
Everybody loves a bright white smile. Here at Blackburn Shoppes
Dental Centre we have a variety of products and procedures
available to help you improve the look of your smile. |
|
X-Rays
With the help of radiographs (the proper term for pictures
taken with X-rays), your dentist can look at what is happening
beneath the visible oral tissues. Dental X-ray examinations
provide valuable information that your dentist could not collect
otherwise. |

Dental
Sealants
A sealant is a plastic material that is usually applied to
the chewing surfaces of the back teeth. The sealant acts as
a barrier, protecting enamel from plaque and acids. |
|
Flossing
Clean between teeth daily with floss or an inter-dental cleaner.
Decay–causing bacteria still linger between teeth where
toothbrush bristles can’t reach. This helps remove plaque
and food particles from between the teeth and under the gum
line. |
| |
|
|
Brushing
Brush your teeth twice a day with a CDA-accepted fluoride
toothpaste. Replace your toothbrush every three or four months,
or sooner if the bristles are frayed. A worn toothbrush won't
do a good job of cleaning your teeth. |
